Watch out for
Pine dents and scratches easily and its knots can ooze resin and move — it is soft, so treat it as a casual rather than a heirloom wood.
Engineer's notes
Pine gets unfair scorn. It is honest, sustainable and lovely for relaxed, rustic or painted pieces — and it is the best wood to learn on. Just set expectations: it will pick up the marks of a life lived, which some people love and others do not.
